Pali's career story

By BT

When Pali was 5 years old he had a dream of being a football player like most boys that age. Almost two decades later and one year after he joined BT, Pali shares his insights of being a graduate at BT.

What did you want to be when you’re 5 years old?

When I was 5 years old, I wanted to be a professional footballer (like most 5 years olds). I thought I could be the next Thierry Henry.

What and where did you study?

I studied mechanical engineering (BEng) at the University of Birmingham.

How did you learn about the BT graduate programme?

I came across the BT graduate programme in my final year at university whilst looking for graduate roles. I was looking online and found a technical role which interested me.

What made you apply?

The reason I applied for this graduate programme was the opportunity which I could see within the scheme, the freedom to rotate roles in the two year programme really stood out for me. I also liked the development pathway that BT provided to its graduates.

How was the recruitment process?

I found the recruitment process was simple to follow and was kept updated with my application. I was told I had secured a role on the graduate programme within a couple days of attending the assessment centre.

What is unique about BT graduate scheme?

I find that the ability to rotate between such a variety of different roles is the most unique thing about BT’s graduate scheme. You can go from working in finance to doing a sales role or from a technical role to project management. It really gives you the opportunity to develop a lot of skills whilst on this graduate programme.

If you had to choose one favourite thing about the BT grad scheme what would it be?

My favourite thing about the BT graduate scheme would be the people. Everyone is really friendly at BT and they are all willing to help graduates on their journey.
