Adcocks is an award-winning practice based in the Cathedral City of Lichfield.

Employing 19 members staff, the firm can trace its roots back to 1910 when Leonard Hedley Adcock started in business as a general practitioner in West Bromwich. We have a well-established private client department, predominantly drawn from the industrial West Midlands.

About the area

Lichfield is a pleasant Staffordshire town with a mediaeval cathedral and with excellent road and rail links. Both the A5 and A38 trunk roads pass through the district, the M6 toll road junction is about one mile from the centre and the main line station from Euston to Manchester and Liverpool stops (at Trent Valley) a short walk from the town centre. There is another station (City station) in the city centre running regular services to Birmingham Grand Central and beyond. The town has a variety of interesting shops cafes and bars, and a theatre and is a popular tourist destination. There is a good supply of residential property in the area and outlying villages.

About the job

The department consists of:

  • A Department Head
  • A full time Solicitor (currently on maternity leave)
  • A part time Legal Assistant
  • Secretarial support

Responsibilities will include

  • Assistance with marketing and development of the department
  • Taking of new enquiries and follow up.
  • Attending client meetings in Lichfield, West Bromwich and surrounding areas
  • Conduct of casework and matters under supervision in primarily private client (probate and wills etc) and family law, with some conveyancing.
  • Achieving fee target
  • Reporting to Head of Department

The position is based at our Lichfield office. The successful applicant will be expected to travel for client visits. This is a full-time position however a part-time role may also be considered.

You will have

  • A 2:1 degree preferable though candidates with a lower level of degree may still be considered.
  • A clean driving licence.

Experience in private client work would be an advantage. You will probably have a 2.1 law degree, but applications are taken on merit and not dependent necessarily upon academic achievement. A willingness to develop the firm, communicate well and work as part of a team of an established, but adaptable practice is of the highest importance. We are open to offering the role to a paralegal or a trainee solicitor.
