We are looking for strategic problem solvers to join our growing Analytics practice. Combining commercial acumen and technical expertise, our Data Scientists unearth data-driven insights to help businesses grow, build value, and invest wisely.

About the team

CIL is an international management consultancy focused on growth strategy. Our engagements are typically short (4-6 weeks) and often involve an M&A element, primarily to advise private equity firms who are looking to invest in high growth businesses.

The Advanced Analytics team combines business insights with the latest analytical techniques to provide clear, actionable insights. We support clients directly through analytics-led projects and work closely with the core consulting team.

Although we work in structured project teams, we are socially very equal, lively and inclusive. There are no corner offices, no cliques – we work in open-plan offices and are not political. We think ‘a culture’ is something other firms have to invent. Ours is the product of the people we employ.

The role

Your responsibilities will be varied, and you will:

  • Grasp new business models quickly, typically working on one project every 4-6 weeks
  • Take responsibility for testing commercial hypotheses through rigorous quantitative analysis
  • Play a key role in debating and refining hypotheses with the project manager and project leader, drafting clear & concise output for inclusion in the final report
  • Get in front of clients and help present our findings; we firmly believe that early client exposure is a great way to learn and develop
  • Help deliver training to the wider consulting team as we identify skills to roll-out more widely

Specific requirements of applicants

  • Outstanding numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent research techniques and critical thinking ability
  • Excellent people and workload management skills
  • Able to understand statistical concepts and how these apply to business problems (e.g. statistics, regressions, predictive modelling)
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python, R)
  • Familiarity with at least one data visualisation tool (e.g. Power-BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to process and extract large volumes of data (e.g. SQL, Alteryx)
  • Ability to communicate complex problems to non-technical audiences
