DAS Law is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our friendly Legal Operations team in our city-centre Bristol offices on either a full or part time basis.

In this varied role, the successful candidate will provide general telephone and administrative support to our legal teams, ensuring they are handling confidential information with care and attention to detail. Full training will be provided, and this is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to help ensure the smooth functioning of our office whilst supporting our lawyers with effective case management.

As part of this fast-paced and busy environment, this role will suit those that work well under pressure, whilst maintaining high quality results within tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities 

  • Answering reception calls covering all law departments and directing calls appropriately.
  • Archiving, including retrieving files and boxes from storage.
  • Checking disbursements on settlement of cases, general housekeeping and paying of disbursements by cheque or bank transfer where required (full training will be provided)
  • Reviewing of documents to include identifying legally privileged disclosure, redacting and sorting (full training will be provided)
  • Handling communication by email, post and phone with prospective new clients.
  • Monitoring shared mailboxes and completing tasks where applicable.
  • Facilitating the smooth running of the office.

About you

We are keen to hear from applicants with previous experience working within an administrative or customer service based role, however we are open to considering candidates from other employment backgrounds (including retail and hospitality) who are motivated to work in a professional environment and would like to promote and develop their skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems in general.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ensuring good customer outcomes.
  • Ability to handle confidential data with care and discretion.
