What’s the purpose of your role?

Defaqto is looking to grow the sales function and looking to focus on new client relationships and as part of this growth, we are setting up a new internal sales team. The Business Development Associate is a brand new role and will play a key part in building new client relationships. It will report to the Business Development Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Intermediary sector of the UK financial services industry and of the opportunities, challenges and needs of Advisers and Investment managers.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of Defaqto’s products and services and how they can deliver high levels of value to Advisers.
  • Understand the competitive landscape in which Defaqto operates.
  • Determine and utilise appropriate sales tactics (including effective call planning and follow up through CRM) to ensure that activity levels are maintained (in terms of calls, appointments.) and conversion targets are met.
  • Generate outbound calls, emails and LinkedIn contacts to prospective customers in order to generate appointments. For each lead identified:
  • Develop a clear understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Promote appropriate products and services to meet those needs.
  • Complete all sales administration activities, including:
  • Setting up and updating customer records in CRM.
  • Diarising and logging all customer-related activity.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree level preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge and/or interest in financial services sector are preferred
  • Some experience and aptitude for selling, ideally in a telephone based role
  • Hard working, energetic and willing to learn
  • Must be professional and a clear and articulate communicator
  • Must be motivated by targets and achieving results
