Job purpose

  • To operate as an effective member of the Dispute Resolution Group based in the Gatwick office
  • To provide legal & administrative support to fee-earners within Dispute Resolution group
  • To work with and assist members of the team, in particular, in delivering a large scale data review and rectification project, to include conducting a range of searches, updating spreadsheets and analysing, interpreting and reporting on information that is obtained. In particular, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required, along with a strong team work ethic
  • We would expect your role to develop as experience allows within the project

Responsibilities and duties

  • To participate and contribute to the Gatwick Dispute Resolution Group to ensure an effective working environment, supporting all members of the project team as appropriate, including working on the project described at paragraph 1.3 above
  • To attend and contribute to Group Meetings
  • Continuously develop their own technical expertise
  • To promote the vision and culture of the Firm
  • Annually participate in AROM/objective meetings, forwarding a copy to HR
  • To be responsible for the delivery of the service to the client, ensuring that the highest standards of client care are maintained so that clients use DMHS again and recommend the firm to others
  • To be fully familiar with the Money Laundering and FSMA Policies and Procedures and to ensure full compliance with them
  • Conforming to the risk management procedures as stated by the firm
  • Attend regular meetings with the Group to review all current work and workloads

Knowledge, skills and experience required

  • Ideally a law degree or equivalent, and completed (or studying towards) the LPC or SQE
  • Some previous experience of litigation work is desired but not essential
  • Some knowledge of tort and contract law, Civil Procedure Rules and relevant case law is desired but not essential
  • Able to effectively manage their time to achieve client and internal deadlines
  • Understanding the importance of client care and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, in writing, over the telephone and in meetings
  • Able to work within a team and provide support to all members of the Group as appropriate
  • Confident Excel skills sufficient to enable the reviewing of relevant matters
  • Competent IT skills including Outlook, Word and case management system
  • Ability to draft documentation and minutes, with attention to detail
  • Understanding of the strategy and vision of the firm
  • Ability to convey technical legal information when necessary in an effective and accessible way
