What you can absolutely expect from working at OCC is that you will have the support to do your job and deliver great results, wherever you are based. Each role at OCC is different and we know the needs of individuals are also varied, and so our approach to where and how often we would like to see you in person will be taken depending on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you as part of the recruitment process.

Hours per week are 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working. Interview date on week commencing 15th April or 22nd April 2024. Be a part of designing and making great places and public spaces across Oxfordshire for people to live, work, visit and invest in.

About us

The Placemaking service is at the forefront of place-based planning and supporting communities in leading the changes in their local areas.

Working closely with partners, the service facilitates change through engagement, joint working and creative thinking on how to improve the lives of those living, working and visiting Oxfordshire. This is a new approach for the County Council and we need enthusiastic fresh thinking individuals that understand how to make places and people thrive.

About the role

The Assistant Transport Planner role is key in bringing plans for places alive. The role will provide support to developing a range of transport projects through option appraisal and feasibility studies to deliver the objectives of the Oxfordshire Local Transport and Connectivity Plan.

The role will collect, collate and analyse data from a wider range of sources for use in the assessment of transport projects to ensure conversations about place are data driven and well informed.

The role will support the placemaking approach by working collaboratively with internal/external partners, stakeholders and organisations to ensure thorough engagement in the development of transport projects. The Assistant Transport Planner will model the organisation’s values and behaviours which are at the heart of everything we do.

About you

If you are passionate about building better places through collaboration and innovative design then this is the role for you. If you have a background or interest in planning, transport, design, or related discipline we would like to hear from you.

Making quality places takes creativity, empathy and drive. As we move away from traditional transport schemes towards the creation of better functional spaces, we need a range of skills to change the thinking and practice.
