To help us on this journey we are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our passionate and collaborative team.

We operate the UK’s largest venue marketplace, which hosts over 6,000 venues and is used by over 2 million prospective event planners each year. Our clients include Google, Facebook, Red Bull, UNICEF and Dr Martens.

Role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products and features we ship to customers and internally to members of the team. You’ll be making critical decisions about if a product or feature gets released.

You’ll also write up test cases for products, then implement automated tests following these test cases to ensure that subsequent product updates do not impact previously released features. You’ll work closely with other members of the engineering team and other teams to help identify the source of the problem, before writing tickets and working with other engineers to get these problems resolved.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll be a critical part of the team to make sure we achieve our mission by ensuring the reliability, quality and intuitive user experience of our products used by millions of people every year - from our well-established marketplace to our virtual event products.

You will work closely with our Engineering Manager and Product Manager to help prioritise identified bugs based on their severity and business impact. In cases of major issues, you’ll work closely with senior engineers to coordinate rapid responses to reduce and resolve the impact on customers in real-time to prevent long-term disruption.

Responsibilities will include

Quality Assurance Engineering

  • Writing test cases for existing and future products
  • Writing automated E2E tests for all our products and features
  • Reviewing existing products and writing up reports about bugs, issues and user experience improvements
  • UAT of engineering tickets to ensure the quality expected by our customers
  • Diagnosing issues and then writing up tickets to get them resolved
  • Helping to prioritise bugs based on severity and current priorities

Collaboration

  • Working closely with other engineers to help diagnose and resolve issues
  • Working with product managers, engineers and other members to make decisions on UI/UX design.

You should apply if you 

  • Are familiar with front end languages including HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Understand the workings of Cypress (or equivalent automated testing frameworks)
  • Good understanding of browser development tools
  • Have knowledge about cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Have a knack for identifying improvements to get the best user experience
  • Have experience working in an agile development environment
  • Have great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have a high level of organisation and can effectively manage dynamic workloads
  • Are self-starting and with a keen eye for design and user experience
  • You thrive in a culture of continuous learning and feedback.

It would be a bonus if you

  • Have some experience working in Typescript
  • Have some experience working with Jest (or other unit testing libraries)
  • Have worked with React (or other front end technologies such as Angular, Vue etc)
  • Have an understanding of various different software development practices
  • Have experience developing responsive mobile-first websites
  • Have long term aspirations of improving programming skills
  • Have previous experience in another startup

Logistics

  • This role a remote-first role
  • Our client base is predominantly in London and it is a “nice-to-have” for you to be able to visit our office from time-to-time and attend our away days in-person
  • This role reports to the Engineering Manager
