The role

IG Group is seeking an ambitious undergraduate completing an accounting, finance, or business-related degree to join an 11-month, fully paid industrial placement where you can experience the inner workings of a FTSE 250 Finance department.

What you’ll do

You will work within the Group Finance function in London across the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Group Reporting teams. It is a great opportunity for an ambitious penultimate year undergraduate who wishes to have a career in finance at one of the UK’s most successful FinTechs.

The role will grant the successful candidate the opportunity to gain exposure to and build an understanding of data, processes, and outputs across the finance function through:

  • Cost and revenue analysis of a variety of regions
  • Support in generating revenue forecasts and analysis.
  • Budgeting and forecasting of IG’s key commercial areas and strategic projects.
  • Business partnering and communication to business leaders and their management teams.
  • Being involved in year-end activities
  • A deeper appreciation and understanding of the application of accounting standards.
  • Assisting the Finance Team in driving process and systems improvements, project analysis, and month-end consolidating analysis

What you’ll need for this role

  • Academic requirements – Degree related to accounting, finance or business.
  • Maths A-Level or equivalent.
  • Hands-on approach, can-do attitude and a team player.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

  • Programme length: 11-month placement

  • Working model: hybrid (3 office days per week)

Throughout your 11-month placement, you’ll be part of an experienced FTSE 250 finance team. You’ll partner with the business to support with the budgeting and forecasting process, you’ll assist with external reporting activities which will be available to our shareholders, and you’ll work as part of team to drive finance systems and processes forward.

Following your induction, you will be assigned a line manager who will support and coach you throughout your industrial placement. You’ll attend training courses alongside our graduates and have access to a huge range of IG learning and development resources. You’ll be part of a larger community of graduates which is a fantastic opportunity to grow your network.
