Position overview

We are looking for a Project Engineer for a graduate engineering position, to work within the Lear seating development team(s) to design, develop and validate seating products for just-in time (JIT) manufacture.

Main responsibilities

  • Take part in all department rotations to ensure knowledge is grown on how the business works over a 3-year period.
  • To gain the skills and experience to become a Product / Project Engineer
  • To embrace the Lear working culture and embed themselves into the team(s) that they are assigned to.
  • To gain the skills / knowledge and experience required to become a Project Engineer working within the seating development team.
  • To gain an understanding of the design and development requirements for automotive seating products, manufacture, and to understand how they are validated.
  • Take ownership of tasks to aid the development of complex seating systems.
  • Engaging in programs to assist the Engineering Project Managers to execute seating designs to specification requirements meeting customer expectations
  • Work within the various engineering functions to get an understanding of design, analysis, validation, build, structured problem solving, tolerance analysis, drawing creation and dimensioning
  • Learn the skills to enable good competitor technical benchmarking and attribute definition
  • Management of open issues and driving them to successful closure within the agreed timing
  • Presentations to Lear colleagues and customer senior management as required with respect to your area of responsibility
  • The role may require occasional travel within the UK and Europe

Key Skills and qualifications

  • Achieved 2:1 or higher engineering or product design-based degree (BEng, BSc, BA)
  • 3x A-levels minimum, including:
    • B or above Maths
    • B in subject related to STEM

Or

  • B-Tec Higher grade National Diploma in Engineering or related subject with Maths grade B.
  • 5x GCSE’s minimum, including:
    • Lvl 5 (C) or above Maths
    • Lvl 5 (C) or above English
