We are currently recruiting for a Hardware Engineer to join our Research and Development department based in Dunfermline. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly motivated team of engineers working for a company who are the world leaders in retinal imaging products. You will design and develop electronic systems for new retinal imaging product development and existing rental imaging product improvement as part of a multi-disciplinary R&D team.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Design innovative analogue/digital electronic solutions for new retinal imaging products in accordance with the design control process.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing product range through design analysis and innovative technology solutions.
  • Responsible for development and execution of test methods for design verification of hardware components, modules, and systems.
  • Responsible for design concept analysis for new products development and existing product improvements with regards to electronic performance and reliability.
  • Responsible for the technical specification, design, and efficacy of electronics design output from the R&D team.
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of electronics design solutions against project requirements.
  • Responsible for electronic design documentation, design review and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA).
  • To inform product and technology roadmap with regards to emerging technologies for performance improvements and cost reduction.
  • Communicate design intent and operational workflow of designed electronic systems to product engineering staff.
  • Provide customer support in a pro-active manner in the form of creative solutions to problems encountered with the product.

Minimum qualifications

  • Degree level in Electronic Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education gained through work experience.
  • Previous experience in electronics design engineering preferred.
  • Competence in analogue/digital electronics design and analysis using modelling (Cadence and Xilinx) and experimental/prototyping methods.
  • Good understanding of test methods and standard specifications electronic systems.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of ISO13485 and FDA Medical Device Design Control processes.
  • Knowledge of electronics assembly processes and test methodologies.
  • An ability to work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Team orientated, responsive and customer focused.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office applications).
