Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, Springco (N.I) Ltd in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting employment opportunity for a graduate to work on a project to develop and integrate digitalisation technologies to create improved, data-driven operational performance, allied with accurate innovative cost modelling techniques integrated with predictive digital twin models. Springco are embarking on a digital transformation and the successful Associate will play a key role in this strategic project.

The role

This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Engineering/Computer Science graduate to work in Springco (N.I) Ltd, 21 Carn Road, Carn Industrial Estate, Portadown, BT63 5WG with on a 24-month collaborative project with Northern Ireland Technology Centre (NITC) at Queen’s. The candidate should be able to travel to our other sister facility in Kiltonga Industrial Estate, Belfast Road, Newtownards, BT23 4TJ upon request.

The successful candidate will become part of a team within SPRINGCO (N.I) ltd. Springco was established in 1954 and is a well-known and reputable manufacturer and supplier of specialist spring solutions. Manufacturing a wide variety of springs, such as compression, tension, torsion, flat springs, wireforms as well as a wide range of miscellaneous springs in exotic metals specialising in nickel and cobalt alloys. With over 60 years’ experience, and extensive knowledge in high and low temperature applications which gives customers the confidence that the spring solutions supplied will suit their specific requirements. The wide customer base includes aerospace and space, offshore and sub-sea industries, medical, defence, valve manufacturing, renewable, power, and nuclear sectors plus general engineering.

About you

  • Hold an Honours Degree in a relevant Engineering subject such as Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronic or Computer/Data Science
  • Completion of a relevant research project or student placement. Applicants should indicate how their experience could be applied to this post.
  • Understanding of digital transformation and how it is applied within a company (May be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Experience in one or more of the following: digital manufacturing, manufacturing process mapping & analysis, data modelling, programming, or data visualisation.

This post is available on a fixed term contract for 24 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
