We are seeking a forward-thinking Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This role is tailor-made for a professional who not only thrives in dissecting data but also in crafting innovative solutions using advanced statistical techniques such as Machine Learning and AI. Your analytical ability will be instrumental in navigating complex questions and providing innovative solutions in providing assurance over emerging challenges.

Key role responsibilities

You’ll be…

  • Using advanced statistical, Machine Learning, and AI techniques to analyse a wide array of data, encompassing both core business metrics and exploratory non-core data. You'll be instrumental in identifying patterns, forecasting trends, and deriving actionable insights from complex datasets. You'll handle structured and unstructured data, leveraging your technical expertise and innovative thinking to enhance decision-making, improve efficiency, and contribute to strategic goals.
  • Engaging in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive data analytics, translating complex scenarios into actionable insights.
  • Collaborating with the internal audit colleagues to identify and define value driven business questions and the pertinent problems we are aiming to provide assurance over.
  • Responsible for the development of analytics, as part of our data journey, throughout the internal audit lifecycle i.e. audit needs assessment, audit planning, fieldwork, reporting and ongoing issue validation.
  • Building your own workstreams in support of our existing strategy for analytics, and helping us to work towards our future state vision whilst meeting the needs of the function and helping us to deliver on our roadmap.
  • Spearheading the automation of data analysis processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Effectively develop business relationships and communicate data-driven insights in business terms, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Empowering team members by enhancing their data literacy and analytical capabilities, acting as a mentor and coach through workshops and training sessions. .
  • Proposing innovative ideas to improve analytics systems and processes within the team and encourage a data literate and best practice mindset for all within the team.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation whilst actively contribute to a supportive team environment, where every member feels valued, heard, and motivated to excel.

The person

We think you’ll be a great fit if…

  • You are a forward-thinking risk professional from any industry. You have strong & proven quantitative analytical skills. Skills gained within financial services industry would be advantageous.
  • You have proven experience in data analytics delivering a portfolio of projects in business contexts using SQL, (Azure Synapse Analytics), Python and PowerBI.
  • You have strong analytical skills with the ability to dissect complex data and distil it into simple, actionable insights.
  • You have a creative and innovative mindset, open to exploring novel approaches to problem-solving through the use of Machine Learning, AI, and automation.
  • You have ability to present findings and analysis in a structured and well-thought-through way, particularly when addressing a non-expert audience.
  • You strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to nurture team spirit and foster a positive working environment across individual, team and stakeholder levels.
  • You are experienced in facilitating workshops and training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
  • You have a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus. More generally the right candidate, who will thrive in this role will be open-minded, have an appetite to learn, to challenge and be challenged, flexible about the way things get done and approach the role with an appetite to grow and develop.
