We’re looking for a Graduate Electronics Approvals Engineer to join our Hardware R&D Team in our office in Cambridge, UK.

As a Graduate Electronics Approvals Engineer you will quickly start to work with our hardware products and learn about relevant regulatory requirements and test processes covering radio, EMC and safety aspects. Your activities will include pre-compliance testing, reviewing and researching design information, preparing formal documentation, preparing product samples, supporting formal compliance testing and performing some hardware design verification testing.

You will develop an understanding of regulatory compliance for different regions of the world. You will work closely with the Hardware Development team, and will also work with Product Management and our global Sales teams.

What you’ll do

  • Take our lighting control nodes and base station products through the full compliance campaign for different regions of the world.
  • Work with third party test houses.
  • Work with the development team to create test plans for new features.
  • Review schematics and research safety critical component data.
  • Review test reports and complete Technical Construction File (TCF) and Declaration of Compliance (DoC) documentation.
  • Assist with managing the inventory of test samples, test equipment and associated documentation.
  • Deliver to an agreed schedule.
  • Learn new technologies relevant to the projects.
  • Assist with design verification testing of new products.

Your qualifications, experiences and interests

  • Degree in electronics, communication engineering, physics or a closely related subject.
  • Good communication skills, able to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences and confidently deal with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly to react to changing demands.
  • An interest or knowledge in hardware and regulatory compliance for global markets.
  • An understanding of radio technology is essential
  • Driving license is desirable as this role includes trips to test stations on a regular basis.
  • You live in the Cambridge area and you can easily commute to our office in Pampisford on a daily basis.
