An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Survey Technician to join our Aberdeen base.

The successful candidate will report to the Regional Technical & Operations Manager - EMEA and be responsible for learning how to maintain our rental equipment to ensure its ready for deployment. Initially this will be a base (onshore) role but as the candidates experience and knowledge develops there will be opportunities to support our clients with offshore operations.

The candidate will hold Highers (or equivalent) in Maths, Science and Technology and have an ambition to learn and develop in a trainee role.

The applicant will need to demonstrate a confident “can do” attitude in a fast-paced environment and must be a team player. The applicant will need to be an excellent communicator and offer exceptional attention to detail.

Main responsibilities

Rental (onshore)

  • Preparing and testing of equipment prior to rental and post hire.
  • Function testing, software / firmware updates, cable integrity.
  • Ensuring completeness of equipment against packing lists.
  • Checking, inspecting and documenting equipment returned from hire.
  • Visual inspection, function testing and writing technical reports.
  • Identification of in-house or external repair tasks.
  • Preparing all assets to ensure they are ready for delivery to clients at short notice.
  • General warehouse and delivery duties.

Mobilisations/Demobilisations (offshore)

  • Checking, inspecting and documenting equipment on mobilisation
  • Setup, interface, function test on mobilisation
  • Troubleshoot to successful conclusion
  • Assist offshore survey team as required
  • Demobilise, check, inspect and document equipment prior to dispatch back to base
  • Attend Offshore training and undergo an Offshore medical

Requirements of role

  • Qualified to AL-Level/Higher Level in maths, science and technology
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to follow procedures and processes correctly
  • High standard of QHSE in the workplace
  • Ability to work as a team taking directions
  • Ability to work independently and confidently when representing the company at client premises
  • Have a flexible and pro-active approach to working and learning
