About the role

As the Editorial Assistant, you will assist the Medicine & Nursing Editorial Teams in the management and development of their publishing programmes in the Health Sciences program. This Editorial Assistant will manage and implement the administrative processes involved in list management, ensure internal systems are correctly updated and maintained as well as maintain contact with authors, editors and contributors in order to provide them with a high level of editorial service. This Editorial Assistant will also handle post-publication work including complimentary copies and payments.

How you will make an impact

  • Ensuring internal systems are correctly updated and maintained
  • Managing the review process and maintaining contact with authors, editors and contributors
  • Tracking progress of publishing projects
  • General administrative duties including processing of book payments
  • Managing the process of cover briefs and copywriting
  • Liaison with colleagues
  • Other tasks as requested by the publisher or commissioning editors in support of their publishing programmes or the business unit

What we look for

  • Education to university level or equivalent
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Proven skills in workload management and ability to prioritize
  • Strong communication skills including, where necessary, persuasion and sensitivity
  • Keen interest in and knowledge/experience of book publishing
  • Interest in and commitment to academic publishing
  • Proficiency with MS Office products
