Graduate insight into securing a Consulting internship with Deloitte

Created on 6 Mar 2018

A huge well done to member Harshita, who after attending Bright Networks annual Festival, has landed a summer internship at consulting firm Deloitte. Read how she did it below.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

The first time I met some representatives from Deloitte was at the Bright Network festival two years ago, and I was instantly drawn in by how friendly and approachable they all were. I read up about the different roles available later on, and decided consulting would suit me best, as I like client interaction and the challenge of facing new tasks everyday.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The toughest part was probably the group exercise at the assessment centre. It was making sure we assigned valuable roles to each team member e.g time keeper, scribe and presenter. My favourite part was actually the one to one interview at my assessment centre. The interviewer was really friendly, so it felt more like a conversation than an interview, which was reassuring.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

Just how lovely all the representatives I met at Deloitte were! It helped ease the pressure a lot during the whole process.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

Do your research, ask questions and smile.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

Act confident! Even if you're not feeling it.
