If you have your eye on a legal career, or you're curious about life as a lawyer, a vacation scheme is a great way to learn more. Competition for these placements can be intense, but help is at hand to ensure your application shines through.
Vacation schemes are short work placements spent at a law firm. Lasting between one and three weeks, they're your way of working out if you want to pursue a career in law and whether a particular firm is for you. They're also one of the main ways firms fill positions for their graduate Training Contracts.
Preparation is the key to securing your place. To help you ace that all-important vacation scheme application, we invited three experts to Bright Network HQ to share their pearls of wisdom.
Our guests include Simmons & Simmons Associate Minesh Tanna discussing what he's learned over his career reviewing vacation scheme applications and Bright Network members Farisha Khan, future Trainee at Allen & Overy, and Jonathan Andrews, future Trainee at Reed Smith.
If you're wondering how to research your application, what makes a firm a good fit, how to talk about deals or what to do if you don't make your grades, we have you covered. Sit back, get comfortable and get ahead, right from your desktop (or mobile).
Thank you to Minesh, Farisha and Jonathan for taking part and sharing their expertise. For more tips on vacation scheme applications, check out our top ten application tips here.
