Fiona Williams, a second year student at Cardiff Business School recently completed a work placement at Admiral Group. She had the opportunity to make a real difference, and was recently interviewed by her university.
What kind of things did you do on your work placement?
"It has been a truly great experience, better than I could have imagined."
'Whilst on placement I was given the task of reviewing Admiral's welfare budget, specifically looking at value for money, relationships with suppliers and what staff valued. I look at the existing offering and the costs last year before researching alternatives and thinking of improvements. I spoke to knowledgeable employees, completed surveys, negotiated with suppliers and completed calculations to allow for comparisons. I then presented my findings to senior managers before being given permission to implement the changes and communicate them to frontline employees. The changes I have made should save the company £18,000.'
