Advice from a Business Consultant at Atos

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

Amrita is a Business Consultant at Atos since completing an Economics degree at the University of Nottingham. Here she shares why she chose to launch her career at Atos, her responsibilities and what a typical day can be like for her.

Why did you apply to Atos?

I had always wanted to apply the theories I’d learnt while studying for my degree to produce real-life solutions. Also, I wanted to work somewhere diverse, where I would have the opportunity to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds. I felt that a career in Business Consulting at Atos would allow me to do both these things, while also being a challenging and supportive environment in which I would de me the opportunities and training to progress in my career. I applied shortly after graduating and am very glad that I did.

What are your responsibilities?

As a Business Consultant, I help clients to achieve their goals by guiding them on a transformational digital journey. My job is to help understand what steps need to be taken to help them achieve these goals and how to deploy the expertise and capabilities available at Atos to do this. Consulting presents me with the opportunity to tackle a wide range of business scenarios across a variety of sectors: no two clients or projects are the same. No matter which project you work on, there is a great balance between autonomy and teamwork, which helps you to quickly develop your skillset and deliver valuable work to the client.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I start my day by checking my emails. This helps me to organise my day and plan meetings or calls with the relevant people, and ensures that important tasks are carried out as soon as possible. I spend the rest of my morning collecting feedback about new ideas from my team. This is very important as it helps to address any issues before they grow. After lunch, I meet with clients and suppliers, which allows me to manage expectations and see how project plans are coming together. Later in the day, there is an internal review of all of Atos’ projects, which allows me to gain an insight into activities across the organisation. At the end of the day, I manage admin and go through the tasks for the day, before catching up with team members over dinner or drinks.
