Priyanka has joined Berenberg on the International Graduate Programme, we caught up with her to find out about her experiences on the programme so far.
I joined the International Graduate Programme last year and I have greatly enjoyed my experience so far. Having studied chemistry at university, the graduate programme has equipped me with the necessary skills to have in banking and I feel that Berenberg really values the diversity of its employees. The rotational aspect of the programme was a great learning experience which you can tailor to suit your own interests. I rotated within Equity Sales, Equity Research and Investment Banking which gave me a good understanding of how the different parts of the bank operate and fit in with each other, and it also guided me to which career path I wanted to take. Subsequently, I joined the Chemicals Equity Research team as I found the sector very interesting and I found that my skillset was most suited to the job. Equity Research involves making investment decisions on stocks and then communicating them to investors. My day-to-day jobs are varied and they include carrying out in depth market and company analysis and financial modelling.
The International Graduate Programme also gives you the chance to meet and learn from many employees across the bank, as well as the graduates in your own cohort. It is definitely useful to have these good connections as you end up working with the different departments no matter where you choose to be at the end of the programme. My favourite thing about working at Berenberg is that it truly has an inclusive, diverse, and collaborative working environment, and I immediately felt welcomed once I joined/ started my new rotations. The learning curve is very steep, but everyone is willing to help, allowing you to build your knowledge and develop your skillset further.
I'm excited to see how my career at Berenberg will develop from here!
