Annita took part in Berenberg’s Capital Markets Summer Internship Programme last summer and has now joined the bank full time – here she shares some thoughts on experience so far with us.
Last summer I had the opportunity of taking part in Berenberg’s Capital Markets Summer Internship Programme, where I spent eight weeks in Equity Research. On arrival, I was immediately encompassed by the diverse yet inclusive working environment. I found that I was surrounded by people who were not only passionate about what they do but eager to inspire the next generation. The collaborative atmosphere was what struck out the most to me – it’s an environment where everyone is encouraged to take their own initiative to learn, especially from their peers as well as more senior individuals, who truly are the best at what they do.
During my time, I was given a range of responsibilities such as modelling in Excel and pitching stocks to a designated team. These tasks provided me with valuable hands-on experience and allowed me to enhance skills that I would need to build a career in banking. I also had the opportunity to meet various people from other parts of the bank, which gave me a well-rounded perspective of how Berenberg operated on a daily basis. My top tips for applicants would be is to do your research, keep up with current affairs and most of all be yourself!
The programme is a great stepping stone into a place on the graduate programme, as well the industry as a whole and I am excited to have returned to the bank this Autumn!
