A review of 2016 Bright Network First Year Lawyers

On a beautiful day in central London, we welcomed 120 of the brightest budding lawyers and ten leading law firms to Bright Network First Year Lawyers Top 100. Enthusiastic members got a unique chance to make connections and get ahead of the competition before starting their law degree.

The day was full of networking, skills workshops and panel sessions. The energy in the room was incredible and the students impressed throughout the event. A massive thank you to the attending firms – Ashurst, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith FreehillsMacfarlanes, Norton Rose FulbrightShearman & Sterling, Slaughter and May, Taylor WessingTravers Smith and White and Case - and to all the students for making this event an incredible success.

Here’s a little taster of Bright Network First Year Lawyers Top 100.

Bright law students meet each other just before starting their degree.

Bright Network alumnus Sam Unsworth gives his top advice on networking with the right people and applying to law firms.

Many intelligent questions were asked as students discovered more about all ten law firms. Meeting them in small groups gave them an unrivalled opportunity to make connections and find out exactly what they wanted to know.

Two panel sessions throughout the day gave the students a better understanding of what a career in law was like and what they can do at university to get ahead of the competition.

The hugely popular Gwyn Day was back as he gave students his expert advice on securing Vacation Schemes and Training Contracts. Students tried their hand at common application questions with the help of Gwyn.

The students left with a wealth of knowledge and a goody pack filled to the brim with information and freebies.

Thanks to all the students and firms who made it such a special occasion.
