BI and Visualisation Graduate Analyst 2021

You will be joining AFSL’s new Data Science team on our exciting transformation to the cloud, and the adoption of Agile ways of working – two important foundations for any modern data team. Our new team spans all data disciplines including data science, analytics, visualisation, engineering, architecture, and machine learning. We embed our data team into all business areas, so you will get first-hand insight into how each discipline makes a difference to our customers and colleagues, and time to build your network in AFSL’s data and business community.
Main Responsibilities
You will work in AFSL’s Data Science team, working closely with data analysts to take their insights, and turn them into easy-to-read, accurate, and performant dashboards, using the best visualisations to bring discoveries to life. Working closely with managers to put data at their fingertips, you will also understand what metrics matter to them.
The Role's Objectives
- Build an in-depth understanding of creating dashboards and modelling data with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query)
- Build a network throughout AFSL by turning insights from data analysts into regular visualisations/dashboards used by the business to improve their performance.
- Enhance technical data skills that will be critical to maintaining, optimising, and improving visualisations/dashboards so that the business has the latest and most accurate insights to act upon.
- Put data at our colleague’s fingertips by supporting the development of our ‘BI Hub’ – an accessible and catalogued repository of all AFSL dashboards.
- Support AFSL’s BI workload migration to a modern AWS cloud-based data platform.
- Work with our external partners to supply benchmarking and commercial data extracts.
About You
- Degree qualified or experience in a similar role (Data Analyst etc.)
- Have prior programming knowledge (SQL preferred)
- Familiarity with Excel/Power BI or other BI software
- Strong presentation skills with a focus on visualisation
- Analytical skills with a problem-solving aptitude
- Proactive mindset with intent to take initiative and be innovative
- An inquisitive personality and always interested in the ‘why?’

Due to Covid, the whole Admiral Financial Services is working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, once it is safe to return to the office, we will have days when the whole team comes together to collaborate. You can decide if you want to come to the office between 2-5 days per week.
