About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus in the UK for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join the A330 wing production team as an Operations and Business Placement Student.

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for leading and supporting a variety of local projects and initiatives within the A330 wing manufacturing facility. During your placement, your time will be split between the wing assembly area, where all the major components of the wing structure are brought together, and the wing equipping facility, where additional components begin to be added to the basic metallic structure.

During your placement, you’ll be reporting directly to the A330 Business Enablement Improvement Leader and work closely with the business’ senior leadership team, allowing you to gain a valuable insight into the management and day-to-day running of a live production environment. In addition to your immediate team, you will also be exposed to an extensive network across the Broughton Plant, including individuals working in Human Resources, Production Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Operations Quality, Finance and Supply Chain Management.

The role will cover a wide range of topics, from resource management to environmental, health & safety requirements. Recent examples of projects & activities delivered by the team include facilities upgrades and refurbishment, introduction of a dedicated safety space and the digitalisation of operational processes and shift communications.

What will you be doing

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include;

  • Tasks and activities related to Environmental, Health & Safety Improvements.
  • Co-ordinating and driving business specific improvement projects.
  • Leading and supporting local digitalisation initiatives.
  • Interface with key stakeholders within the A330 Component Delivery Team.
  • Support with the development and introduction of employee led improvement initiatives.

There will also be many opportunities for personal development, these may include;

  • Opportunity to gain an in-depth and detailed understanding of the wing manufacturing process.
  • Chance to work closely with all levels of the leadership team and gain a critical insight into the day-to-day and strategic management of the business.
  • Opportunity to gain a greater awareness of policies and procedures regarding Environmental, Health & Safety compliance and personnel management.

Please note our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate sometimes complex topics into a simple straight forward plan.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver change in line with the requirements of the project.
  • Drive and tenacity to implement changes in line with Time, Cost and Quality. Must be willing to challenge and overcome obstacles at regular intervals.
  • Proficient use of IT equipment and digital processes.

The undertaking of a Business Management or Engineering degree is preferred but not required.
