We are a driven team of experienced and time served Airbus professionals, who strive to ensure the business is benchmark in all its fields and providing top quality service to our customers. The team is made up of Calibrators and highly experienced Tool Maintainers. We have 4 locations across site with diverse enablement requirements with complex maintenance expectations. We have recently energized SAP to support our maintenance journey to collect more data to improve our responses through Asset Care plans identifying projects to eliminate breakdowns and ultimately disruption to production. With the recent introduction of SMART tooling with variable speed motors and gear boxes, programming and logic is at the forefront of our focus.

We have maintained pneumatic drilling equipment for decades and our digital strategy needs growth and support to utilise the latest technology making us as flexible as possible to adapt to the ever changing world.

What you will be doing

During the placement you will learn all about what the Calibration department has to offer with a heavy focus on the maintenance world within Airbus and have the opportunity to utilise your skills to work closely with the teams and implement change to solidify our maintenance strategy. The role will put you at the centre of the drilling team supported by dedicated engineers gaining knowledge and understanding of all airbus variants across the site. You will work with a variety of different people both inside the team and around the plant and will have the opportunity to support and autonomously run projects across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People.

Primary focus will be on the modernizing of the maintenance department ranging from the workshop to process improvements on spares management, planned preventive maintenance creating as much opportunity to enable growth into new technologies that we are currently maintaining.

The candidate will also be supporting the management team in enabling production.

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include

  • Safety related topics like Risk Assessments, PUWER, LOLER and safety audits in our production environments.
  • Engaging with the Quality team on Process Confirmations, asset care plans and  root cause analysis tools (Practical Problem Solving),
  • Helping with team engagement initiatives and the employee involvement scheme, as well as environment and sustainability projects.
  • You will represent the Calibration business at drumbeat reviews and be a focal point for our customers, which will develop communication, business agility and problem solving skills

Your ideas and support will also play a valuable part in defining our long term strategy, including the introduction of new technologies. Working with all areas of the business will help develop your presentation, networking and stakeholder management skills that will be required and will be valuable in future career opportunities.

You will also learn about Airbus Operating System's and Lean principles, which will be at the forefront of all the projects to ensure the best possible outcomes can be achieved.
