About Us

The role is based within the Facilities Management and Real Estate (FMRE UK) organisation at Stevenage site.  The candidate will work across the whole Airbus UK portfolio of sites with direct accountability into the Airbus Energy and Sustainability team.

FMRE UK is responsible for a huge range of deliverables to Airbus UK, including but not limited to; Real Estate and General Zoning management, Aerodrome management, Energy and Supply, Major Building and Construction projects as well as Maintenance, Catering and Cleaning to name a few.

Our Sustainability journey at Airbus means uniting and safeguarding the world in a safe, ethical, socially and environmentally responsible way.  We have a comprehensive sustainability strategy built on four core commitments (Decarbonisation, Product Responsibility, Sustainable Supply Chain and Zero-Emission Technology) which guide our approach to the way we do business and how we design our products and services.   A major focus of our sustainability strategy is reducing the CO2 emissions of our aircraft, as well as our industrial environmental footprint at sites worldwide and throughout our supply chain.  To this end, we are contributing to meet key industry-wide environmental performance targets. In addition, we are focused on delivering on our ambition to bring the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft to market by 2035.

The FMRE UK team are today working on strategies in relation to Catering, Waste, Energy and CO2, Water, New Buildings and Refurbishments and Sustainable Transport.

What will you be doing

Working within the FMRE UK function; this exciting opportunity offers successful applicants the chance to influence and drive change in a challenging, diverse department, matured over recent years to an integrated “ONE FMRE” team incorporating both Airbus Commercial and Airbus Defence & Space (ADS) across the UK.

The successful candidate has the opportunity to be part of the Airbus strategy in defining the new ways of working to achieve the targets and contribute to the Airbus

would be able to contribute to the development of this new strategy.  Supporting the creation of technical standards, defining and leading space management within the UK and contributing to the development of a multimillion pound workplace investment strategy and business case generation.

As the successful the activities you may undertake will include;

  • Support the deployment of sustainability initiative across the ADS Division.
  • Support the UK Energy Manager with streamlining Energy, CO2 and Water reporting measures for reports at various levels of the ADS organisation.
  • Act as a focal point for the UK Energy Manager for UK ADS sites.
  • Support the development of the longer term sustainability improvement roadmaps, particularly on Waste Reduction.
  • Work with the FM Sustainability Lead to progress the internal review governance, action tracking and follow up reporting.
  • Work with the UK Energy Team to improve the visualisation of site energy flows as part of the data maturity initiative.
  • Support the deployment of Orbit House (UK Headquarters for Space), Energy, Data and Visualisation, bring creative input to provide valuable data to the building occupants.
