About us

Are you interested in developing fascinating innovation projects on aerospace and defence topics? Do you like connecting with people from many different organisations?

The innovation management team is composed of 12 people who are a mixture of technical experts, business developers and programme managers who are all passionate about developing new products and services, new business models and new ways of working.

As part of this team your main mission and responsibilities will be to ensure that:

  • The business cases of innovation projects (in particular in incubation, acceleration and implementation phases) are correctly performed and followed-up
  • All start-ups  of interest to Airbus Defence and Space are being identified and tracked
  • The innovation team has a consistent picture of all innovation/start-ups challenges and events relevant for the Airbus Defence and Space organisation
  • The innovation team internal communication is kept dynamic, current and engaging 
  • The innovation team has the required level support in terms of market and industry reports

What you will be doing

As a Support to the Innovation Management Team in UK, you will gain a great experience in innovation and will get a good overview of the entire product portfolio of the Company. The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (technical, project management, communication, etc.) in order to complete them successfully.

You will be able to handle various missions for Airbus Defence and Space innovation, in order to:

  • Build a dynamic view of all projects and partnerships ongoing (including the update of the current database of innovation partners)
  • Enhance the innovation process for the creation of new partnerships in cooperation with the Procurement Team
  • Improve innovation communication
  • Prepare forthcoming innovation events

Please note our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • You have been studying for a relevant engineering or technical degree
  • A good knowledge of Defence and Space industries (Major in Space technologies would be an asset in particular)
  • A strong interest in innovation, creativity, curiosity, openness, team spirit
  • The ability to listen, understand and communicate information
  • The desire to work in a technical team environment
  • A strong interest in developing yourself
  • A negotiation level in English, other European languages such as French, German or Spanish will be an asset
