About us

The Commodity group is responsible for the complete sourcing of Satellite Communication equipment, products and services used across all the business lines of Airbus Defence and Space; this includes Telecommunications, Earth Observation and Navigation Satellites (GEO/MEO/LEO orbits), High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) and Satellites constellations as well as supporting Secure Communications for a wider variety of Air, Land and Naval Platforms. The group is fully transnational and supports internal customers located all over Europe, Australia and the UK with a supply base that is truly worldwide.

What will you be doing?

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will be varied and will require you to use many different skills (technical, project management, communication etc.) in order to complete them successfully; as a diverse and inclusive team there will always be other team-members available to advise and support. We value different ways of thinking and working to get to a solution.

Part of our job is to distill the huge amount of available data from the market down into “bitesize” easily digestible summaries to whet the internal client’s appetites. As the client needs more information on specific topics, we continue to act as the Airbus “voice” to the Supply Chain through various activities: setting up NDAs, managing Teaming Agreements, supporting the negotiations of any Procurement Contracts and helping to resolve any issues with Through Life Support.

This role requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Please note our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Educational requirement: Ideally you will currently be studying a Business-related or an Engineering-related degree.

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following

  • The ability to listen, understand and communicate information effectively and efficiently
  • Desire to work in an open and trusting environment, both independently as well as within a larger team
  • Pro-active attitude and positive engagement towards learning in a technical environment with a strong interest in developing yourself
  • Interest in finding, developing and implementing creative solutions to complex problems
  • Professional attitude that will be reflected towards external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
