Business Unit

A busy and fast paced region within our growing organisation, involved in a range of civil engineering works in a variety of sectors to include rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.), Environment Agency, Local Authority etc. The business units in the North are involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects, whether one off tendered projects or projects/remits within our long term framework / contract agreements with key clients.

Existing contracts include Network Rail reactive / planned maintenance and Infrastructure projects, Environment Agency, Highways and Local Authority frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, railway station works, structures works, heavy civils, tunnels and footbridges.

The Role

As a Graduate/Apprentice in our Pre Contract team, you will play a key role in supporting the regional estimating and bid management team by providing support to the team whilst developing your own pre-contract and bid management skills.

As a Graduate/Apprentice, you will receive on the job training in writing tender responses for EOI, PQQ and Tenders. You will be involved day to day in undertaking research of clients, to ensure successful, high scoring responses are saved to the responses library for future re-use as well as ensuring that new responses are developed with other AmcoGiffen departments for Sustainability, Quality and Safety. In this role, you will be professionally mentored and developed to become a core, high performing resource in the Pre Contract department to allow succession planning as part of the long term plans for the team.

Assisting in bid writing and bid management of AmcoGiffen projects. This is an ideal opportunity for an Apprentice/ Graduate with a passion for and clear talent for ‘writing’.

Requirements

This is an ideal opportunity for an Apprentice / Graduate with ambitions of being involved in pre-contract work/work winning. Similarly, it is a fantastic opportunity for candidates looking to pursue apprenticeship opportunities in bid writing/management. Developing good creative writing skills and ability to interview other key staff to obtain information and articulate this into high quality written tender responses.

Essential Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to build personal and team relationships
  • Good all round communication and presentation skills
  • Good at analysis of basic numerical data in order to include and articulate with written responses
  • Will require strong working knowledge and skill using MS Word, Excel and Power Point
