This is a great opportunity to train to teach outstanding lessons and therefore help pupils achieve excellent academic results.

In this role, you will engage in rigorous and continuous professional development in order to exceed the minimum level of practice expected of teachers as defined in the Teachers’ Standards. You will be able to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct and be a role model, positively impacting the academy more widely.

Key Responsibilities

  • To engage in daily professional development activities
  • To plan, resource and deliver lessons to the highest possible standard that ensure learning and progress of all pupils
  • To provide a nurturing classroom and academy environment that helps pupils to develop as learners
  • To help to establish/maintain discipline across the whole school
  • To contribute to the effective working of the school

Engage in daily professional development activities to develop appropriate knowledge and skills that enable you to:

  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure an inclusive and safe learning environment
  • Fulfil wider professional responsibilities
  • By the end of your training year, to be able to exceed the minimum level of practice expected of teachers as defined in the Teachers’ Standards listed above, and to be able to demonstrate excellent practice in some of the standards for teaching

  • Time built in to work on PGCE assignments (2 for the year)

Completing Your Training

At the end of your training year, you’ll have achieved:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)

After successfully completing your training year, you will then progress onto our highly supportive, tailored Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction programme. We will help you secure an ECT role at your training school or another school within the Ark network and guide you through your first few years of teaching – it is very rare for our trainees to leave the network after their training year. Even better, many of our trainees move into middle and senior leadership roles within the Ark network, thanks to the foundation they built during their training year with Ark Teacher Training.
