Overview of the Role

Right now we're looking for Chemical Engineering Summer Placements to join our team of bright professionals in our Cardiff office. From your first day, you'll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards a professional qualification.

You'll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you'll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.

Summer Placements will be working in a multi-disciplinary office, preparing designs and carrying out studies in co-ordination with their local and international team as well as external clients for projects across a wide range of markets.

We expect our graduates to take early responsibility for their work and we encourage presentations to clients and other team members along with maintenance of technical governance.

You will develop experience, skills and knowledge, through design work, analytical assessment using software programmes and visiting sites to see the work undertaken.

What we are looking for

We're looking for graduates with curiosity, personal drive and technical knowhow. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of (or willingness to learn about) the Process Engineering sector and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we'd like to hear from you.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes and skills:

  • Studying towards a Chemical Engineering degree with prediction or attainment of 2:1 or higher 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Intellectually curious 
  • Team orientated 
  • Self-starter; able to work under own initiative with senior support 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit 
  • Able to quickly develop successful client relationships 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essential 
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills 
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) 

Arup Summer Internship opportunities typically run for 6-8 weeks. You must be available to start on the opportunity during Summer 2022 and commit to completing the programme in full.
