Arup's design and engineering skills shape a full spectrum of water solutions.

We see water in context. From delivering water infrastructure to advising on natural catchments, we consider commercial, economic, environmental and social implications.

Arup's global reach and keen insight into the entire water cycle, and our practical experience in contrasting climates and conditions, brings oversight to our work in water – including infrastructure design and engineering, asset management, flood mitigation, sustainable water management, water strategies and research.

All-round thinking is the product of our specialist water engineers, project managers, management consultants and environmental and water scientists working seamlessly together – and in partnership with clients.

Overview of the Role

We are currently recruiting for Civil Engineering Summer Placement Students to join our well-established Water teams in either Cardiff or Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for students that are enthusiastic about the Water sector to join a multi-disciplinary team for a period of 6-8 weeks. Start and end dates can be flexible depending on the candidates' requirements.

You will provide support to team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients on strategically won projects and frameworks. You will assist in preparing designs supported by our multi-disciplinary teams, and gain a thorough understanding of the role of a design engineer by using relevant software and seeing first-hand how we operate.

Depending on performance, there may be an opportunity to receive a permanent offer of employment upon graduating. We also try to provide experience within our Infrastructure group to ensure that the successful candidate has a varied workload.

You will work as part of project teams to deliver effective and professional services to our clients. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside other disciplines such as Hydraulic Modellers, Mechanical, Electrical and Geotechnical Engineers, Surveyors, Landscape Architects, Environmental Consultants and Project Managers.
