Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, architects, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of today's built environment. Together we help our clients solve their most complex challenges – turning exciting ideas into tangible reality as we strive to find a better way and shape a better world.

Overview of role

We are looking for passionate and highly talented individuals to train with us to become infrastructure designers and ambassadors of the built environment to help shape the world we live in.  Our current strategy to achieve this has simple yet strong focus areas; sustainability, people and digital.  To excel in these areas we will continue to invest significantly in the training of our early careers members, and also to maintain our reputation for looking after our people, through our continuing passionate efforts to improve our behaviours in equality, diversity and inclusion.

Our Civil Engineers can find themselves working in partnership with our experts in buildings, bridges, tunnels, geotechnics, environmental consulting and transport planning. Energy, collaboration, and effective communication is fundamental to bring these elements together as our Civil Engineering teams are often at the core of these disciplines acting as integrators or facilitators. Our teams also work closely with many external bodies to deliver the project, from clients and architects to statutory approval organisations.

The experience and skills of our teams allow us to provide strategic advice at all stages of a project, from first conception through master planning, detailed design, construction and even decommissioning.  Due to climate change and a strong focus on sustainability our advice is often critical to the success and programme of many projects, and we use our knowledge to influence collaborators to implement bespoke sustainable solutions.

Our core skills in the Civil Engineering teams typically include masterplan development, sustainable drainage designs, flood risk management, pavement designs, earthworks assessments, access road design and utilities coordination.

Our projects are varied, exciting and often high profile. As one of the world's leading building and infrastructure design consultancies, we offer clients the innovation and technical know-how to continually deliver their projects on schedule and on budget, but without compromise.

Right now, we're looking for graduates to join our team of bright professionals. From your first day, you'll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards professional qualification.

We are looking for candidates with an appetite to develop their engineering, digital and management abilities whilst working on large multi-disciplinary projects from feasibility stage through to construction and beyond as we move into the asset care aspect of the built environment.

We are looking for digitally minded individuals who are keen to combine the above engineering principles, with a desire to automate our processes, manage data better, and help us drive the quality and efficiency of producing intelligent 3D models. This is a key focus area for the industry and Arup are leading a number of initiatives in this space.

You'll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you'll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills. We seek people with a good understanding of CAD and Digital tools with experience of design projects.
