You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

Our rail engineering experts work with a range of specialists to develop fully integrated railway designs which meet the needs of government, rail operators, the travelling public and others impacted by the railway. These designs may be for a new railway (or other guided transport system), for an extension or enhancement to an existing system, or the renewal of existing infrastructure.

The opportunity

The Rail team in the Civils sub-discipline. As a graduate within one of these teams you will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you will have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we will give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with experts from varying disciplines across not only the rail business but the wider Arup global business. Due to the nature of our work, you will have the opportunity to gain a broad range of experience, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and liaison with clients, contractors and third parties. Projects will be allocated to you, ranging in scale, duration, and design stage, providing you with a diverse working environment and varying responsibilities.
