We are currently looking for a number of Graduate Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineers across multiple UK locations, to go through our rigorous Graduate Programme. The successful person will work closely with your dedicated line manager, who will review and manage your technical performance & development throughout your assignment.

Main duties

  • Contribute to the development of design packages for Electrical, Control and Instrumentation based systems, for a variety of clients (mostly nuclear, but also some other energy transition focused organisations).
  • Support site construction and commissioning work.
  • Deliver a broad range of engineering consultancy and support services to a variety of Assystem clients.
  • Present findings internally to Assystem teams and externally to clients, requiring excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Act independently, or under instruction from an Assystem Lead Engineer.
  • Work within budgets for assigned tasks.
  • Work in accordance with the Assystem Quality Management System.
  • Assist in proposal writing and other related bidding activities when required.
  • Offer solutions to issues as they arise, rather than simply reporting problems for others to solve.
  • Bring fresh and innovative approaches to the way we deliver work.

What we are looking for (essential)

  • Minimum 2:1 BEng qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Software).
  • A keen interest in emerging digital technologies.
  • An appreciation of the other main engineering disciplines, and the interactions with EC&I.
  • The ability to methodologically approach tasks and provide justification for the decisions made during the completion of the simulation.
  • The ability to plan and manage your own time within a time-constrained project environment.
  • A desire to learn, and a keen mind.

What we are looking for (desirable)

  • Experience using digital design tools (CAD, BIM, AVEVA, Smart Plant etc.).
  • Knowledge and/or interest in coding and programming.
  • Evidence of beginning your journey to Chartered status with the Engineering Council.
  • A willingness to travel for short or longer term work assignments

What you’ll gain by joining us

  • Access to a large team of experienced EC&I engineers who are committed to helping develop the next generation of engineers.
  • High turnover of projects and customers for diverse experience. You won’t get bored in multi-year projects.
  • Exposure to a wide range of clients on sites all around the UK
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver on time, to cost, and to a high level of quality. You won’t be alone, but you will be responsible and expected to deliver (and ask for help when you can’t).
  • Ability to move to different Assystem sites (and customer placements) nationally and internationally, if that is what you’d like to do.

Due to the nature of the work that Assystem undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting. This will include meeting certain residency criteria and may include nationality limitations.

At Assystem, everyone holds the reins for their own careers. Our role is to offer you the opportunities and resources you need to reach your full potential.

So why not join us and help shape the engineering landscape of the future?

We are committed to providing equal opportunities for every candidate and we celebrate all forms of diversity. At Assystem, only your skills matter!
