For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear research weapons research and development. Contracted to the MOD, we have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique nuclear skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

The role

Our Undergraduate programme offers experience of working in an engineering design environment.  The work involves working both with other team members from within the team and typically with customers across AWE and the MoD.  The team focus on delivering safety assessments for the design of new engineered solutions and the work involves supporting these assessments by applying applicable engineering analysis tools and techniques, Eg, fault tree analysis, bow tie method, design safety assessments.

During the programme you will have the opportunity to experience working with engineers of all levels and disciplines to deliver against the AWE mission and goals in support of Continuous at Sea Deterrence.

Successful candidates must be available to start on the Undergraduate Programme in August 2021.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas – if applicable
