Information Technology at Babcock
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you could work on a range of different projects from one or more of our key IT areas:
- Transformation Office: Focus on driving strategic change, challenging the status quo, and fostering collaboration. This team plays a critical role in implementing our IT environmental strategy and enhancing our partnerships to deliver impactful solutions.
- Business Relationship Management: Act as the bridge between IT and the business, shaping and translating business needs into IT strategies and solutions.
- Strategy & Architecture: Develop Babcock’s enterprise architecture and technology strategy, ensuring we leverage the best technology to drive innovation and enhance customer delivery while maintaining operational excellence.
- Data Office: Ensure access to high-quality data for decision-making, creating dashboards, data applications, and driving a data-driven culture throughout Babcock.
- Information Security Office: Develop and execute the Group’s Cyber and Information Security strategy, focusing on safety, security, and operational excellence. The Security Operations Centre (SOC) leads our cyber defense efforts, while teams within Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) manage security frameworks and risk.
- Enterprise Solutions: Support the delivery and maintenance of over 400 critical applications, including ERP systems like SAP & IFS, which manage global HR, finance, procurement, and more. These applications are vital to the engineering lifecycle of complex assets like ships and submarines.
- Governance, Delivery and Application Solutions: Oversee the delivery of around 200 IT projects annually, along with managing in-house and commercial application estates.
- Service Delivery: Secure the availability and efficiency of systems and services across the organisation, working with teams and suppliers to improve service quality.

What you'll need
- A (Hons) degree in Business or a STEM related subject.
- Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. Where you'll be based
Places on our Information Technology programme for Autumn 2025 are available in Corporate Services. Our IT graduates are based across the UK, with Lakeside near Portsmouth being the IT Headquarters. However, you can work from any one of our Babcock hub locations.
We ask our graduates to be flexible as there is the potential to undertake placements in other locations during their programme. Ad hoc travel to alternative UK Babcock sites may be required throughout your programme.
Hybrid working is available, offering a mix of remote and on-site work, tailored to the specific needs of each placement.
