To undertake a course of study and work experience over 2 years that prepares the graduate for an Internal Audit role within the Group Finance function at Barratt Developments PLC.

Our graduate will rotate through a number of Group functions and within our housebuilding divisions to gain an appreciation of how these different departments operate, and how to conduct audits of their policy, procedure, internal controls and compliance. They will also benefit from opportunities to undertake a Million Makers project, the option to study for a professional qualification with the Institute of Internal Audit (IIA), and will undertake a series of development modules including leadership, communication, project management, presentations and performance management. 

Throughout the programme, our graduate will have a tailored development plan with clear milestones, feedback and formal mentoring from the Internal Audit Senior Manager. They will also benefit from a support network of fellow graduates.

In both years of the programme, our graduate will spend time with the Internal Audit team, enabling them to gain an in-depth knowledge of planning, conducting, and producing reports on internal audits for a range of divisional functions. In addition to this, they will have the opportunity to participate in continuous monitoring activities, and tracking the progress of management actions arising from audit observations with a view to driving continuous improvement across the organisation. Successful graduates will also contribute to business change projects to ensure the processes followed lead to successful organisational outcomes.   

What will I be responsible for?

  • Contributing to the planning, delivery and reporting on divisional audits for a number of operational functions
  • Carrying out fieldwork, planning and reporting on group and central functions where required
  • Continuous monitoring of divisional practice to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Contributing to business change projects as and when required
  • Contributing towards Group Finance objectives by driving volunteering activities in the local area 
  • Contributing to continuous development within Barratt by undertaking Divisional/Regional/Group projects as agreed with your mentor
  • Following the ‘ASPIRE’ Graduate Development Programme, completing the portfolio evidence as required
  • Attending all Group Development modules and Functional Meetings as per the Programme
  • Continuing to develop through reviews with your mentor, undertaking relevant professional qualifications where appropriate
  • Giving continuous and constructive feedback on the ‘ASPIRE’ programme
  • Acting as a ‘buddy’ to new graduates when applicable

What you'll need?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for a person who:

  • Holds a 2:1 degree, equivalent or higher qualification in a Finance-related discipline such as Accountancy, Accounting and Finance, Commerce or Banking.
  • Is able to demonstrate enthusiasm for the industry, Barratt as a company and the role. You should also be able to outline the transferrable skills you bring to the graduate programme
  • Is detail-oriented, inquisitive and always eager to ask questions to deepen your understanding of the organisation/role
  • Is able to demonstrate and produce a high standard of written work and accurate numerical work
  • Is self-confident, articulate, resilient and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A lateral and innovative thinker; sees change as an opportunity and challenge for the business
  • Is able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of tasks and projects

  • Hold a  driving licence and your own transport as this will be required for the role
