Broker Relations Manager

To be responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of activities across the broker relations team, including having point person responsibility for specified key relationships with the broking community

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility as main Beazley point person in managing the relationship with allocated brokers:
    • Sponsor/host regular meetings at a senior level
    • Develop joint initiatives
    • Become the in-house “expert” on placement structure and opportunity levers
    • Identify and mine opportunities for expanded trading
    • Serve as “ombudsman” for these brokers where there is relationship strain.
    • Create briefing packs for key internal stakeholders ahead of meetings
    • The list of specified brokers may change or expand over time.
  • To be well versed in presenting every product line to distribution partners and ability to qualify new business opportunities.
  • Participate as a full partner in Broker Relations activities including strategy, meeting agendas and team objectives
  • Liaise with internal underwriting teams to support them in their broker interaction, relay best practice with brokers and to help identify upcoming opportunities.
  • Summarise and distribute quantitative and qualitative information received from brokers on a team-by-team basis
  • Identify underperforming areas, brokers and classes and implement strategies to improve performance

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system.  These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

  • Graduate equivalent education and/or qualifications plus post-graduation work experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of business strategy and the work of the other departments within the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and experience of successfully shaping strategic issues through to implementation
  • Able to coordinate inputs from multiple sources, in order to reach a coherernt view on an area
  • Detail orientated, accurate and numerate
  • Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, intermediate Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing
  • Motivational skills, team worker as well as able to work on own initiative
  • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience within the Financial/consulting sector involved in research/ business analysis activities
  • Use of various analysis and strategic frameworks to enable opportunities to be researched and assessed
  • Good understanding of the drivers of insurance markets
  • Good understanding of the financial drivers of insurance companies
  • Ability to think through the long-term impact of various factors
  • Excellent report presentation skills allowing for the clear presentation of key facts
