An exciting time to join a Ceded Reinsurance team that are in a period of significant growth; this is a new role that has been created to help us continue to provide excellent service to our stakeholders. We are looking for an exceptional candidate with extensive experience of outwards reinsurance that can offer support and guidance to our existing technical team, and can take the lead on all technical reinsurance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our experienced technicians to build a comprehensive understanding of our group wide outwards reinsurance portfolio.
  • Overall accountability for the accuracy of our numbers; you will be responsible for signing off on the precision of all of our key outputs prior to distribution to the wider business.
  • You will represent Ceded Reinsurance at group peer review; owning queries raised by the CEO, CUO or Group Actuarial on our RI financials.
  • Act as a primary contact when the wider business are seeking consultation on current and future projects / changes  that could impact the Ceded Reinsurance function.
  • Accountable for overseeing the accuracy of our contract entry.
  • Undertake ad hoc reviews on the accuracy of some of our historical contracts entered into our reinsurance systems.
  • Acting as a sounding board, offer support, advice and guidance to the Assistant Managers with complex reinsurance issues in their area.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to the Assistant Managers with clearing any other peer review backlog that may exist, when necessary.
  • Dedicate time to training and knowledge sharing with our less experienced members of the team.
  • Work with the buying function to ensure that potential new reinsurances are administrable in our current operating model.
  • Where necessary, offer technical support and consultation to the Ceded Reinsurance system transformation programme.
  • Provide technical support where appropriate during conversation with our external auditors during half year and full year audit
  • Be actively involved in the on-going development of the Company’s reinsurance administration procedures and systems.
  • Provide any other technical support necessary to assist the Operations Manager with the successful delivery of the Ceded Reinsurance strategy.

The Ceded Reinsurance function have fully adopted Beazley’s wider agile working principles. We have a mix of people in the team;  those that like to come into the office regularly and those that work almost exclusively from home. This role will give you the flexibility to work from wherever you want, as often as you want, and there will be no demand on you to attend the office for a fixed number of days.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive experience of London market reinsurance administration, with a detailed knowledge and understanding of all types of reinsurance
  • Experience of overseeing Operational change; the candidate should have a very firm grasp of core operational competencies and be able to provide practical examples of when these have been demonstrated.
  • Experience of working in a lead reinsurance role desirable
  • Experience in a large, complex syndicate desirable
