Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting the Engineering and Design team you will be given the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge throughout all disciplines, available to you within the Engineering department. You will do this by rotating through each discipline on a time period basis as detailed below:

  • Process Engineering – You will spend six months with the Process Engineering and Design team, working on both FEED and detailed designs for both single discipline and EPC / EPCM projects.
  • Mechanical and Piping Engineering – You will spend six months with the Mechanical and Piping Engineering and Design team, you will gain experience in Mechanical equipment engineering, piping and pipe stress analysis, Mechanical design and modelling, Laser scanning and 3D model creation for both single discipline and EPC/ EPCM projects.
  • EC&I Engineering – You will spend six months with the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering and Design team, you will gain experience across all three inter discipline activities along with some experience of automation and process control philosophies
  • Bilfinger Europe – You will spend one month with our Engineering and Design teams in the Netherlands Europe, you will gain experience in the close working procedures between the UK and Europe and how Engineering and Design is applied in different countries
  • Engineering Project Management – You will spend 6 months with the Engineering Project Management team, you will gain experience in budget and programme control including awareness of earned value, contracts and learning from experience factors in both single and multi-discipline engineering projects
  • Engineering Proposal – You will spend six months in engineering proposals supporting the proposals manager in delivering both single and multidiscipline Engineering proposals. You will learn about estimating and how to generate proposals from Client scopes, this will include learning into proposal writing and generating assumptions and exclusions for the basis of the offer
  • Civil and Structural – You will spend two months in Civil and Structural Engineering, you will gain experience of industrial civil engineering and both 2D and 3D structural Engineering and Designs and how these feed into the overall Mechanical model
  • Process Safety Engineering – You will spend three months with our Process Engineering teams looking into the aspects of process safety including, HAZID, HAZOP, LOP and SIL, you will gain experience of being in the workshop environment with all disciplines and the Client stakeholders.

Your profile

If you have the following profile, then we are looking forward to meeting you

  • Graduated from University with a relevant Engineering degree in EC&I Engineering above within the last two years
  • BEng / MEng in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation Engineering
