British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an outstanding Logistics and Systems Operative to join our Supply Chain Logistics team. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. We employ experts from many different professions to carry out our Science as well as keep the lights on, feed the research and support teams and keep everyone safe!

British Antarctic Survey is a component of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation.
£24,961 - £25,362 - the band minimum is the normal starting pay for those new to a role. In outstanding circumstances, when relevant skills and experience can be identified, a higher starting salary may be considered.
We will give full consideration to requests for flexible and part time working, such as reduced hours, compressed hours or job sharing. About the role
You’ll be joining our logistics team who is currently in the middle of an exciting transformation. We have recently acquired a new 32,000 sq ft warehouse in Bar Hill to transform our Antarctic supply chain.
You’ll help us to deliver a far reaching supply chain to the most remote continent on the earth through a variety of routes including our own groundbreaking research vessel - RRS Sir David Attenborough.
Within the role, there will be an opportunity to develop many skills, in the team we like to give everyone the opportunity to work on all parts of the supply chain and deal with various tasks and different partners.
Current projects the team are working on include setting up a new warehouse facility in Antarctica which will offer opportunities to use transferable skills from the role in the UK operation to deploy to Antarctica

Some of your main responsibilities will include
- Receiving, checking, notification and distribution of stores received in goods-in.
- Booking in of deliveries onto our receiving system from couriers and hauliers.
- Loading and unloading transports.
- Receipt of items for freight or cargo processing.
