Reporting to the Head of Finance Change and Syndicate Finance the purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Group’s finance data transformation programme and provide support to the UK finance team in the delivery of financial information for the Canopius syndicates.

Main responsibilities

Support the UK data transformation programme

  • Play a leading role in the delivery of the Group’s data transformation programme, providing detailed analysis as the Group looks to streamline and simplify existing reporting processes and systems.
  • Working with Finance Systems, IT and Actuarial, developing consistent financial reporting infrastructure and aligning financial reporting processes across the Group’s syndicates
  • Assist in aligning the two main syndicates processes and systems

Quarterly and monthly reporting

  • Provide flexible support for the delivery of the syndicate result & the production of the balance sheet
  • Support the Syndicate Financial Controller in various monthly and quarterly accounting activities
  • Lead the testing in various finance projects
  • Developing and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, including leading the delivery of change
  • Assist in the offshoring of syndicate activities, suggesting future improvements to the current model
  • Investigate and analyse issues that arise, and provide summaries and recommendations to the Syndicate Financial Controller
  • Implement improvements to existing processes

Skills and experience

  • Non-life insurance experience 
  • Excellent Excel skills, including being able to produce complex spreadsheets that stand up to audit
  • Ability to review complex insurance and reinsurance contracts to identify contractual features
  • Confident working with large datasets
  • Understanding of insurance data flows
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to drive change and work with stakeholders across the business
  • Strong attention to detail and focused on the delivery of high quality work
