Electric Power Division (EPD) deliver operational excellence in manufacturing Diesel and Gas Driven Generating Sets and Equipment. We have an exciting opportunity for an industrial placement to join our Large Electric Power team based in Larne. Based in our Technical and Commercial Sales Support team, working with others across our organization, you will be directly involved and at the heart of our business. The role

Technical Sales Support group is responsible for technical and commercial sales support of the Custom Power Solutions Sales team. During the placement you will be based in the Mechanical Design and quoting function, gaining real life product design experience, with a view to the commercial implications of the designs, in a customer focused environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conceptual layouts of power systems – includes 2D and 3D modelling
  • Technical Calculations
  • Commercial review and maintenance of costing tools (including commercial and technical processes)
  • Liaison with shop floor personnel on the assembly / manufacture of product
  • Complete and apply basic training on engineering standards
  • Completion of any other assigned tasks in a timely manner to support GPSD
  • Carry out all work in accordance with company policies and procedures

We will provide you the training and support you need to be successful at Caterpillar.

About you

As the type of roles within our business are becoming more diverse we are looking for people who are open minded, excellent problem solvers and who have an ability to learn quickly.

Applicants will be on target to achieve a minimum of 2:2 honours degree level in the following engineering disciplines: Aeronautical, Aerospace, Automotive, Engineering, Engineering Management, Mechanical and Electrical, Mechanical, Product Design Engineering. Other relevant engineering degrees may be considered.
