What could I be involved in as a Risk Management Fast Streamer?
On this new scheme you’ll be at the heart of government decision-making, playing a vital role in helping to assess and prepare for future challenges facing the UK. Risk management is about being innovative, resilient, and preparing to deal with the unexpected. It’s also about enabling opportunity – sometimes it’s necessary to take calculated risks when the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. So, we need to ensure that effective risk management is part of the way government operates, so that risks can be identified, controlled and even exploited.
This scheme puts you on an accelerated path to becoming a fully-accredited member of the Government Risk Profession, working across a variety of areas that could include finance, healthcare, fraud and technology. Growing skills and experience across a range of postings and government departments, you’ll be laying the foundations for a successful leadership career in one of the fastest-growing professions in government.
Training includes
Your initial training will cover the basic principles of effective risk management and, as you progress through your postings, you’ll learn increasingly more sophisticated techniques. You’ll gain practical experience too, which will complement the knowledge you’ll build through studying for a professional risk management qualification. As well as training on bespoke risk management techniques, you’ll also develop a broader skill set including strategic planning, analysis, leadership and decision-making. You’ll also benefit from access to Government Risk Profession learning and development tools, regular online and in-person events including the Risk Improvement Group and other networking opportunities.

- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- To have been a resident of the UK for at least 5 of the previous 10 years, including a consecutive 12-month period.
- A 2:2 or higher (or be expecting to achieve this) in any degree subject, including degree apprenticeships.
