We have an exciting opportunity for two ambitious Graduate Engineers to support Costain in the decarbonisation of the South Wales economy.  Applicants are invited from a mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental, gas or process engineering background.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will be to support the team by:

  • Providing technical support and advice
  • Producing reports and other documentation
  • Programme, cost and data collection and management
  • Partner liaison and Stakeholder management
  • Supporting development of the Costain decarbonisation business in South Wales

About the project

Costain is a key partner in the South Wales Industrial Cluster (SWIC), which aims to significantly reduce emission levels across  the major industries of South Wales, whilst enhancing sustainability and improving skills and opportunities for future generations.
Our partners in SWIC are strategic energy suppliers, respected academics and significant industrialists.
Projects within SWIC include carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), production and use of hydrogen, plus innovative industrial processes.
The opportunities are not limited to SWIC – our South Wales-based Costain team is also involved in advising local authorities and government bodies on all decarbonisation issues.

About you

  • You must be a team player, with good communication skills and a passion for decarbonisation and the pursuit of NetZero.
  • Applicants are invited from a mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental, gas or process engineering background – you will have a relevant degree at Batchelors or Masters Level.
  • You must also have a knowledge of and an affinity for Wales, the Welsh Economy, its governmental structures and legislation, including the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

  • Able to work accurately and appreciate its importance to the team
  • A willingness to learn with appropriate instruction
  • Organised and able to prioritise workload
  • Experience and confidence in delivering presentations, talking in public etc
  • The ability to thrive in pressured situations
  • The ability to empathise and communicate with all people, regardless of their background or circumstances
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
  • The ability to speak and write in the Welsh language would be an advantage
