Working with Costain's Business Systems Group, you’ll be at the leading edge of our cloud platform - architecting, building and improving our infrastructure and ensuring our service is always available, fast and secure.

Most importantly, your work will improve the IT experience for our internal users, clients and supporting projects, such as HS2 and Crossrail, embracing the latest DevOps tools and methods from within our Azure platform.

Key responsibilities

The DevOps engineer role is wide and varied but the main responsibilities include working collaboratively with business owners, clients, projects as well as Costain staff, utilising the latest Agile techniques and methodologies to aid the delivery of our project’s infrastructure and platform solutions.

You will be working with leading edge DevOps tools and technologies to design and build high quality, cloud Infrastructure and platforms to our client’s and Costain’s requirements, delivering solutions built within Azure and on premise where required.

As well as creating new solutions, you will also be helping to support, monitor, migrate and improve our current infrastructure and the live running of our platforms and applications, creating automation solutions and migrating to the cloud wherever we can, also, helping diagnose the root causes of system issues using your problem-solving skills to produce permanent solutions that ensure that problems never reoccur.

About You

Working within the DevOps team, internal collaboration within the BSG department as well as communication with external clients and projects is essential so excellent verbal and communication skills and a professional manner is vital for this role.

You will require working knowledge and experience with Azure (Azure accreditations are advantageous) to demonstrate delivery within the Azure stack of technologies including

  • Microsoft O365 solutions
  • IaaS
  • PaaS
  • Azure Storage
  • Azure Network
  • Azure AD
  • Automation including PowerShell and Terraform/Chef/Puppet etc
  • Azure DevOps toolset
