This position is ideal for current students, recent graduates or postgraduates in the sciences looking to explore health policy while also gaining an insight into life at a fast-growing consultancy.

The role

You will be presented with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of health policy projects, which involve the assimilation, interpretation, and creative presentation of evidence from a range of sources. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with different stakeholder groups to define the scope and content of each project deliverable.

In addition to your project responsibilities, you will also provide support for a range of business development and internal research activities linked to health policy. Specific tasks could include providing writing support for white papers and policy reports, conducting research on key health policy topics, assisting with literature reviews, preparing health policy business development materials, identifying potential networking opportunities, and supporting projects for charitable organisations.

You will typically be working on two to three projects in different disease areas at any one time. Interns receive one-to-one training on the technical aspects of the role and learn about project management and effective communication with clients. As a Health Policy Intern, you will also be given the opportunity to experience work across one of more of our divisions.

About you

This internship is suited to recent graduates as well as current students who are permitted to complete full time internships either during the holidays or as a placement as a part of their degree.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A degree level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1 or expected 2.1). We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to; biology, pharmacology, public health, global health, and medicine
  • A genuine interest in healthcare and a passion for health policy communication
  • The ability to communicate scientific material clearly in both written and oral form, with some experience in planning and writing scientific documents
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written English
  • Organisational skills and self-motivation
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Applying

The April internship programme will run from Tuesday 19th April to Friday 1st July 2022 inclusive. The deadline for applications is Sunday 9th January 2022. Candidates will be sent a written assessment to complete and those who are successful will be invited to an interview. Interviews will be held during the week commencing 7th February 2022 and will include a short presentation that you will prepare in advance. During the interview, you will have the opportunity to meet with members of our scientific teams.

The stipend for interns is £1,500 per calendar month, and you will be entitled to statutory holiday.
