We are looking for an enthusiastic engineering placement student to join our Customer Engineering organisation, with roles in the Automotive Applications Engineering and Machine Integration teams. During your placement with us you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining valuable industry experience and the opportunity to power your potential!

In these roles you will have the opportunity to make an impact in some or all of the following ways:

  • Be an integral part of the European Customer Engineering Team; this team provides all aspects of the technical interface to our commercial vehicle and industrial machine manufacturer customers in Europe. Our product is primarily diesel engine systems and increasingly - electrified-power solutions.
  • Provide engineering project management support for application of existing powertrain products, or for development of new technology applications.
  • Provide engineering analysis in support of new product application projects – typically focused on powertrain optimisation, using simulation methods where appropriate.
  • Supporting application testing at customers’ sites.
  • Lead small projects or sections of larger projects under guidance from experienced engineers and functional experts.
  • Obtain technical information from customers, such as product requirements, and conveying this ‘voice of customer’ into the new product development teams

About you

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong aptitude for the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) combined with the ability to communicate on technical matters clearly and efficiently – across different business functions and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A curiosity for how things work, an aptitude for technical problem solving; you may have a general interest in propulsion or powertrain systems via a hobby or prior work experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Teams. Desirable: experience using MATLAB for engineering problem analysis, or a keen interest in developing your MATLAB skills.
